I thought about this a little bit, why is she closing down the site? I

Nah. Look at what's happened over the last 3 years:

She quadruples the price. That certainly had to cut down the number
of subscribers.

She gets a regular job, which means you see her a lot less. Few
people want to pay for picutres of an empty room.

Dex on camera = subscriber repellant

Those things together mean that the site is probably generating very
little money -- far less than it costs to operate.

Then add to that the fact that Jenni is no longer an Internet
Celebrity and the only time people talk about her is to make fun of
her for hooking up with a loser like Dex.

Jenni hasn't grown up, she's shutting down because she can't afford to
keep the site up and even if she could, it's no fun any more. Even
someone as vain and egotistical as Jenni eventually gets tired of
being ridiculed.

If it was a cash thing she should have said so. I would have hosted
the site for her for free. But 6 years is a long time to be doing
the same thing considering most people have tried the same and get
bored after a week. I do wish she would keep the site up and the
offer for free hosting stands, but I'll bet shes just had enough and
wants it to end. Life moves on. And over the past year it's been
pretty obvious she wants to put it behind her. Too bad though. She
will be missed. She had diaries for when her and Geofry broke up
(that are no longer up there) that described things in a way that
helped me make sense of things I'd been through with an ex, and I've
always been grateful for her publicly posting that. It's too bad
people seem to get off on cutting her up. I've always thought she
came across as a descent person who was just trying to get through
life the best way she could. Which is what we all do. And she
deserves respect for that, just like each of you feel you do. Over the
past 6 years she's done nothing to make me think otherwise, and I
really do wish her well.

Funny thing about money. Jenni has no problem laying in bed, nude,

She hasn't made money off the cam in quite some time. The only
reason the plug hasn't been pulled before this was because Jenni
dreaded the "I told you so" comments from A.F.J. It's ending now
because she doesn't want to have to pay H&R Block to do the
corporations tax return for yet another year. She'll pay them to
do it one last time and then she's done. Of course it would have
been pretty easy to do, given that there's almost no income. But
Jenni is too lazy to even try to do it.

her ISP. Could be that she grew up.

When I checked out what other webcam sites are doing it became pretty
obvious she gave up on her site quite a long time ago. I say she
just got bored of it. But people kept paying so she kept it up. So
what do you do when you want to get rid of customers without telling
them to piss off? You charge a rate just a little larger than poeple
are willing to pay and do minimal work to get it. Eventually everyone
leaves and voila. Here we are.

Did she EVER give a damn about her commercial web site?

When she was in the dorms she seemed to care. It was fun. It was
new. But once she went to the pay site she seemed to lose interest.
In fact, as soon as that first big surge of cash Jenni was off to Europe
for a drug holiday. It all went down hill from there.

Jenni could have been as famous and rich as Cindy Margolis had
she made even a trivial effort. Jenni made absolutely no effort at
building her business. She simply sat on her fat ass and played
video games while the money came in, cried the blues when anyone
pointed out what a lazy slacker she was, and pointed the finger
at everyone else for her failures.

I have no sympathy for Jenni. She snatched defeat from the jaws
of victory.

Jennicam. They're speculating that PayPal's refusal to process
memberships for her (based on "adult content") may have a lot to do
with it. I'm inclined to think this is part of it, along with the
money and whatever personal considerations there may have been
shutting things down.
